FIU Leaders in Practice (FLIP) was started in 2009 by a group of MBA students and FIU Business Alumni to provide an opportunity for FIU Business Alumni Leaders to come back to the College of Business Administration and give back to their school and community while developing their own unique leadership skills.

The mission of the group is to develop business alumni into leaders by actively implementing and executing a service project to benefit the Miami-Dade community. This year’s project is to motivate and inspire at-risk teens from three local high schools. The team is creating a memorable one-day experience that will expose the teens to positive career models and empower them with a glimpse into endless possibilities.

The FLIP group is taking on the project from start to finish--fundraising, marketing, and working with the high schools. They also are documenting the whole process using FLIP video cameras to help increase exposure. The overall goal is to inspire other universities, as well as those closely aligned to FIU, to use the resources, knowledge and expertise gained in higher education to impact the community in a big way.
